The Model 653B Resistivity Meter measures the resistivity of fluids, slurries, and semisolids (e.g., filter cakes or mud solids). The range is 0.01 to 10 ohm-meters. This resistivity meter is packaged in a lightweight case.

Resistivity measurements are useful in formation evaluation. This resistivity meter can be used in the laboratory or field and conforms to API Recommended Practice 13B-1 for measuring resistivity. Conductivity of the sample is obtained by taking the reciprocal of the resistivity measurement.
